Reading Right Now
It’s raining, we’re reading, and these are the books Josie and I have been loving lately.
Moo, Baa, La La La! By Sandra Boynton. It just wouldn’t by a Sandra book if it wasn’t silly mixed with educational. Love this book for the fun AND the early language practice.
All Kids Are Good Kids By Judy Carey Nevin, Illustrated by Susie Hammer. Wonderful illustrations here and a message I worth reading again and again and again.
100 First Words by Edward Underwood. Again with the great illustrations. Also, we didn’t notice until we bought it but the dog is labeled “sheepdog” and it looks just like our doggo, Wilson. We give this book 5 stars!
Night-Night Little Pookie By Sandra Boynton. Still big Pookie fans over here. I actually considered making Josie’s first birthday themed around Little Pookie but I just couldn’t find any pig party stuff that was cute like Pookie. I’m releasing the idea to anyone who can pull it off!
Rain by Linda Ashman, Illustrated by Christian Robinson. I was so excited to come across a Christian Robinson illustrated book in board book form. The book parallels a grumpy man upset about the rain and an optimistic boy loving the rain. It’s perspective, and one of my favorite life reminders that you can choose, make, and spread joy in any kind of day, despite perhaps unfavorable outside circumstances.
Peek-A-Who by Nina Laden. Another good language development book and one that Josie loves turning each of the pages again and again and again.
Happy Reading!
Josie’s Easter Basket
Want: Okay so Josie tells me pop-it’s are the IT thing? Obviously this Mushie one is an easy sell. I also went through her toy basket and pulled out the Easter-like items to add to the basket. The egg shakers are from a music kit that we play with all the time. And this bunny push toy is from Odin Parker (a Christmas gift from her Auntie Jen).
Need: Since a new car seat (what she really needs!) doesn’t fit in an Easter basket, I opted for on new shoes for our growing girl.
Wear: It’s liberty florals season! Just kidding, in my world that’s all year! How precious is this top to be paired with some bloomers? And just because it will still be cold in our neck of the woods, the collar will peaking out of my favorite seed stitch knit sweater of hers.
Add in Marlowe and Mae “nappy covers” aka bloomers in all the sweetest colors! My mom got Josie an olive pair when she was a newborn and they ended up being my favorite! They wash well (air dry), soften but keep shape, and was generous with sizing! I will warn, the shipping from Australia bites, so I advise going in on an order with a friend. I can’t wait to put Josie in hers all summer long.
Read: My mom had this book out for Valentine’s Day and I’m stealing the idea for Easter. Bunny Roo, I Love You isn’t about Easter but about bunnies and babies and love so we are giving it a go.
And again, all of these goodies in her beloved, good for anything and everything mini bolga basket.
Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Hearts
Instead of scrolling instagram while I nurse, I’ve been revisiting Pinterest and wow, I forgot how much I love Pinterest. I’m obsessed with building and fine tuning mood boards. And by fine tuning, I mean deleting all the cringeworth pins I have saved from 2010 (lol).
Anyways, I bring this up because last week I made these (delicious) oatmeal chocolate chip bars, cut them in squares, delivered to some friends and called it good. Later that night I saw this idea on Pinterest and immediately knew I need to make another batch and cut them into hearts. ‘Tis the season!
This pan made 13 hearts with PLENTY of edges to keep for yourself. Here is some of what I used to deliver the cute cookies… Washi Tape | Paper Loaf Pan | Bakers Twine | Deli Food Containers
Goodies for the Littlest Valentine
I suppose there are lots of things I get from my mom but there are two that stand out, loving Valentine’s Day and shopping for babies.
February is upon us and with my mom’s help, I have put together a basket of goodies perfect for my littlest Valentine.
Want: I’ve been seeing the company Slumberkins around - a teacher and therapist started company focusing on promoting early emotional learning. This little love bug reminded me of Josie.
Need: I was in search for a glass water bottle with a straw and came across an 8 ounce BKR bottle (+ the sip kit). It’s pretty freaking mini and cute and the perfect straw cup for Josie.
Wear: My mom gifted Josie these comfy quilted overalls. With a blush long sleeve underneath it’s the perfect Valentine’s Day play outfit. I am also excited to try these felt clips from etsy to pull back her growing bangs.
Read: We are BIG little Pookie fans over here! I Love You, Little Pookie is next on our to-read list! My mom sent Josie, I Love You, Through and Through and we have been loving it too!
All of these goodies in her beloved, good for anything and everything mini bolga basket.
Happy Gifting!
